The first website I ever created.

Back in the late 1990’s I created my first HTML page.  It was a copy I retrieved from another page by using the View Source option on my browser (NETSCAPE).  Then I studied this source code and modified it for my own purposes.  But what to do with this new page?  Clearly the world wanted to see it as much as I wanted to create it.   Enter Geocities.

At that time Geocities was the one place where people like myself could host their own web pages.  I signed up, and became known as Geocities/Soho/Study/4427.   This is where I created my “Poetry Pages” website.   Over the next few years I wrote many poems and posted them to my Poetry Pages.  Sadly, I never got famous for all my efforts, not with the poetry, and not because of coding skills.  I did, however, go on to become a pretty good programmer/analyst in the corporate world.

But back to the present.  I have managed to save copies of my original poems, as set in HTML.  Recently I discovered an archive of my Geocities site, and was able to re-create the index page.  Now it is all put together as a sub-domain on this site.  This offers different perspectives.  One is what I once considered good site development… especially in the area of color schemes 🙂   Another is how far I have come as a website developer.  In this case, from hand coded HTML pages to using WP.  Another is what I may have considered as good poetry.  Sure some of it was good enough for publication, but most was just a reflection of the events around me at that time.

Enough of my rambling, you came here to be entertained.  Here you go:
